In Comacenis

In Comacenis, in Commagene, names a region rather than a town: the map's form is misread from in Commagenis, in the land of Commagene, and the Ravenna list, drawing on the same lost late Roman source, has Comacenin. Commagene stretched from the Euphrates to the slopes of the Taurus, roughly the modern Turkish province of Adıyaman, and the map places it about right. The stop was probably the first beyond the Cilician border, perhaps near Bahçe. Along the road runs a written Latin note: from Comacenis to Heracome, fourteen miles.
