Road station

In Candabia

Qukës?

In Candabia, in the Candavian mountains, was a station on the Via Egnatia where the road climbed through the high country between Elbasan and Lake Ohrid, perhaps at Qukës in Albania, where remains of two Roman bridges over the Shkumbin have been found. The Greek geographer Strabo says the whole road was once called the Candavia. On the map the mountains themselves are drawn just below the name, but the station has no mark of its own. It may be the same place that other road lists call Tres Tabernae, the three inns.
