In Alpe Pennino

Passo del Bracco? (Barrington)

Listen to the story

In Alpe Pennino, on the Apennine height, marked the pass where the coast road climbed over the mountains, probably the Passo del Bracco, and where Liguria met Etruria. The word alpe was used for any high mountain, not only in the Alps. The map gives just two Roman miles to the next station, Boron; more figures may have stood before them and been lost where one parchment sheet joins the next.
