Bubalia

Bubalia appears nowhere but on this map, on the road from Satala towards Zimara and Melitene in Lesser Armenia. Some have taken it for a garbled double of Analiba, drawn just below it, though the two names are hardly alike. Most suggestions point to Kuruçay, where an important caravan inn, now destroyed, stood at the meeting of the Ottoman caravan road and perhaps the ancient routes from Satala and Nicopolis. Another candidate is Karabunar, where an ancient bridge still crosses the river.
