Road station
Pegella
Azak · Hodoğlu ?
Pegella is broken in two on the map, because the name runs across the seam where two parchment sheets meet. It is known only from here, unless the Pigilia of the Ravenna list is the same place. The station lay in Lycaonia on the northern diagonal road, probably at Azak, north-north-east of Konya, where late Roman and early Christian inscriptions have been found. Older research linked it with the bishopric of Psibela, first named in 681, which is possible but not certain; the name might instead come from the Greek pege, a spring.
