Caballucome

Kulak Murat Han, südöstl. von Eğribayat

Caballucome is known only from this map, and its site is now usually placed at Kulak Murat Han, an Ottoman caravanserai near Eğribayat in Turkey. Inside stand milestones, one of them re-inscribed under the emperors Valens, Gratian and Valentinian between 375 and 378; the mound beside it is thick with ancient pottery, and a nearby mound points to settlement as early as Hittite times. In reality the station lay not far from Iconium, which the map wrongly pushes much further east. Even its name sits oddly, at the end of the previous stretch, followed by a stretch with no name or figure at all.
