Pausulas

S. Claudio al Chienti [4]

Listen to the story

Pausulas is Pausulae, a small Roman town in a river valley near the abbey of San Claudio al Chienti, by Corridonia, though its exact site has long been argued over. The Roman writer Pliny lists its people among the inland towns of Picenum, while the list of places compiled in Ravenna wrongly puts it on the coast, and a sanctuary of Apollo lay close by. On the map the road to Asculum is marked fourteen Roman miles, a figure that is certainly corrupt.
