Sugolin

Zliten (Barrington)

Sugolin is Zliten on the Libyan coast, a stop east of Leptis Magna. The Roman register of routes calls it Seggera and puts it twenty miles from Leptis, but the map counts thirty Roman miles, about forty-four kilometres, and between the two the road crossed the river Cinyps. The Ravenna list writes Subgoli and places it by the sea, and the geographer Ptolemy's Zuchabbari has been compared with it. From here the map counts fifteen miles on to Nivirgi Taberna.
