Road station
Siva
Siva appears in the geographer Ptolemy as Sioua, a town in the Cappadocian district called Kilikia, listed just before Kampai and Mazaca, which was also called Caesarea; the map follows the same order along its road. The name may come from the Greek sion, a plant of marshes and meadows. Older research tried to identify the station with Euaisai, whose citizens received a letter from Basil of Caesarea, but that rests on speculation about how the name changed and remains unproven.
