Road station
Doganis
? Devekse · Ekinli oder bei ? Demiryurt
Doganis is the Dagona of the geographer Ptolemy, one of the inland places of Lesser Armenia along the mountains, and it lay between Sebasteia and Nicopolis. One candidate is Ekinli, also called Devekse, where a castle on a rock nearby has yielded medieval and later pottery; another is Demiryurt, once Tödürge, with several rock-cut tombs. Older research wanted to see it in Domana, a base of mounted archers in a late Roman list of commands, but that place is usually sought elsewhere. Between this station and Megalasso, the Roman register of routes adds a stop called Zara.
