Praesidio Silvani

(on coast 36 miles N Gabes) (Barrington)

Praesidio Silvani, the garrison post of Silvanus, lay in Africa Proconsularis, somewhere on the coast north of Gabès in Tunisia, though its exact site is unknown; it belongs to Roman and late antique times. It is eighteen Roman miles, about twenty-seven kilometres, from Ad Oleastrum. The Ravenna list calls it simply Praesidium. The stretch on to Lacene is drawn as two, so an unnamed stop without a figure appears on the way.
