Philocalia

bei Görele, ehem. Eleve · Eleghu

Philocalia lay on the Black Sea coast at Görele, a place once called Eleve, though the map, with no room left along that shore, sets it out of its true place. Pliny the Elder, the first to mention it, names both a fort and a river called Philocalia, and Arrian lists it on his voyage between Argyria and Coralla. The Ravenna list garbles the name as Philocadan.
