Pidis

Akça, ehemals Fidi ?

Pidis is the Pida of the geographer Ptolemy, a station on the road from Amasia to Neocaesarea in Galatian Pontus. It is placed, with some caution, at Akça near Erbaa in the province of Tokat, a place formerly called Fidi, a name that seems to carry on the ancient one; a Roman milestone found there supports the identification. The Ravenna list writes the name exactly as the map does.
