Mirones

Mirones, which the Ravenna list calls a city, was a station on the road from Amasia to Neocaesarea, part of a major east to west route. It is placed, with reservations, at Buzköy near Niksar, where a little to the south a bridge of several arches crosses the Kelkit Çayı, its piers partly built of Roman and Byzantine masonry. Remains from Hittite, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine times have been found in the area.
