Phenica

Rus ez-Zuella? (Barrington)

Phenica, a station on the west coast of Cyrenaica, lay twenty-five Roman miles from Corniclanu and twenty-five more from Noetu. The Roman register of routes seems to know the place as Attici, and the Ravenna list writes Phinica. It is perhaps Rus ez-Zuella in Libya. The drawing here is curious: the copyist ran the road line on beneath the distance figure and even out to the gulf, then had to turn a right angle down its side, so the single stretch on to Noetu ends up drawn as three.
