Zau Taberna
bei Irgurgad (Miller) · (N Chaminos) (Barrington)
Zau Taberna carries the Latin word taberna, an inn or roadside tavern, a fitting name for a stop on the coast road of Cyrenaica. It lay twenty-five Roman miles from Noetu and twenty-three, about thirty-four kilometres, from Ampalaontes, and is placed near Irgurgad in Libya. The Ravenna list shortens the name to Zau and sets it by the sea. Some older copies of the map lost the first letter and read Autaberna.
