Road station
Zama
? vielleicht bei Kaman ?
Zama was a road station in Chamanene, a district of north-western Cappadocia named by the geographer Ptolemy. It is perhaps to be sought near Kaman, in the bend of the Halys on the border between Cappadocia and Galatia. A few kilometres from Kaman lies the mound of Kaman-Kalehöyük, where excavations since 1985 have shown settlement without a break from at least the 20th century BC to Ottoman times. Another suggestion places the station farther east, at the mound of Yassı Höyük, inhabited since the Iron Age.
