Road station

Zenocopi

Umgebung von Kemaliye, ehem. Eğin

Zenocopi is known only from this map, a station on the frontier road of Lesser Armenia between Zimara and Vereuso. It is usually placed around Kemaliye, once Eğin, on the Euphrates. One suggestion is a camp of Yürük nomads near the town, at fifteen hundred and twenty metres, where herds still gather in July and August around plentiful springs, close to the tomb of a holy man. Sultan Murat once spent the night there, for it is the only sheltered spot near the frontier road on the northern loops of the Antitaurus.
