Zadagatta

Tell Ain Sadaka (Miller) · Khirbet es-Sadaqa (Barrington)

Listen to the story

Zadagatta, the Zodocatha of a late Roman list of army posts, was a base for native cavalry on the road to Petra, at today's Khirbet es-Sadaqa in Jordan. Ptolemy calls it Zanaatha. The map is crowded here: to make room for Havarra and its figure, the name begins far into its own stretch, and its distance figure spills over into the next. It counts twenty Roman miles from Havarra and eighteen on to Petra. Some older copies of the map read Zadagasta.

Fully based on scientific information from TP-Online (KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt).
