Ypepa
Günlüce, ehem. Datbey
Ypepa is Hypaipa, a Lydian town in the valley of the Cayster at Günlüce, once called Datbey, in Turkey, on the road between Sardis and Ephesus. The form on the map may be a medieval slip for Hypaepa, or it may echo how the name was spoken in early Byzantine times, when a late Roman list of cities wrote Hypepa; the Ravenna list garbles it to Ioppeda. Writers mention the town from the 1st century BC, and the geographer Ptolemy lists it too. Its goddess was Artemis Anaitis. In reality it lay south-south-west of Sardis.
