Parium
Parium was a Greek harbour town said to take its name from Parius, a son of Jason, and founded by Milesians together with settlers from Paros and Erythrae. The Greek geographer Strabo found its harbour larger than that of Priapus, and the Roman register of routes gives a sea crossing of sixty stadia to it from Callipolis. Under Augustus it became a Roman colony, and Hadrian was honoured there as a founder. The Roman writer Pliny knew it for a family of snake charmers. The map counts twenty-two Roman miles from Lamasco and fifteen on to Priapos. Older research placed it at Kemer.
