Paricea

Rohri oder Schikarpur auf der Westseite des Indus (Miller)

Paricea is a puzzle, because no ancient writer names an Indian place like it. The map sets it at the mouth of the Indus, which points to Barbarikon, Alexander's harbour in the delta; others prefer Barygaza, the more important of the two ports of north-western India, whose Indian name Bhrgukaccha the map's form might echo. Older research thought instead of Pasira, a village of the Fish-eaters on the river Tomerus. The entry probably dates from the first century AD, when Roman trade with India grew.
