Pascara
[wohl ein Ort in Cumis] (Miller)
Pascara is a garbled form of Arsakia, a name taken from the Arsacids, the Parthian royal house, so a town of that name cannot have been founded before the second half of the 2nd century BC. Strabo explains the layers: Rhagai, founded anew by Seleucus Nicator, who called it Europos, was renamed Arsakia by the Parthians. Pascara and its neighbour Europos are therefore one and the same place, at Ray near Tehran. The copyists evidently entered the newer name without striking out the older one, and the order of the stations here only comes right once Hecatompylos is moved to stand before Nagae.
