Beltra

Robat Kerim (Miller)

Listen to the story

Beltra is today generally taken to be Adrapana, the modern Arteman, which Isidore of Charax describes as a royal residence of the Parthian rulers of Ecbatana, destroyed by Tigranes the Second of Armenia, probably in 85 BC. If so, the map has put it in the wrong place: it belongs between Concobas and Ecbatana, and older research spoke of a serious error in the map's order of names here. The Ravenna list writes Belfra.
