Road station
Belca
Biauche, Cm. Dampierre-en-Burly
Belca was a station on the road from Autun to Orléans, the ancient Cenabum. The Roman register of routes knows it under the same name, though some older editions of the map read Belea. Where it lay is uncertain. Most earlier authors chose Bouzy, said to have been called Belciacum in the Middle Ages, but the distances do not fit. Other proposals are Sully, Saint-Père, Ouzouer, Saint-Benoît and Bonnée; today it is placed at Biauche, in the commune of Dampierre-en-Burly. Because map and register agree, older research read these distances as Gallic leagues.
