Road station
Batiana
Loriol oder Baix, bei Coucourde? (Miller) · near Etoile-sur-Rhône (Barrington)
Batiana was a halt on the road up the Rhône between Montélimar and Valence, the change of horses that the pilgrim from Bordeaux lists as Vacianis. Older research placed it at Baix on the right bank, arguing that a station on the left-bank road could still serve the town across the river; Loriol and Mirmande were also proposed, and a modern atlas looks near Étoile-sur-Rhône. The list of places compiled in Ravenna garbles it as Untiana. The figure towards Valence is written oddly, as an X followed by a long row of strokes.
