Road station

Beliandro

Gurk oder Altenmarkt (Barrington)

Listen to the story

Beliandro, the Roman Beliandrum, was a station in the Gurk valley of Carinthia, on the road from the Mur valley to Virunum. Older research placed it at Zweinitz; a modern atlas suggests Gurk or Altenmarkt. Roman inscriptions have come to light nearby. The map sets Beliandro fourteen Roman miles from Tarnasici and thirteen from Matucaium, where this road joined the one coming by way of Noreia.
