Road station

Berdanna

Harvanabad (Miller)

Berdanna is the next station before Ecbatana, which on this road must really be Susa, and lies about halfway between it and Seleucia on the Tigris. Here the map changes its counting: up to Berdanna distances are in Roman miles, from Ecbatana on in Persian parasangs. The name probably matches Berga, which Ptolemy places not far from Susa, though the station has also been equated with Behistun, where Isidore of Charax describes a city on a mountain with a statue and a stele of Semiramis. The entry probably goes back to a late Hellenistic or early imperial stage of the map.
