Onoadas

Onoadas may not be a town at all. One reading takes it for the river Oroatis, which Strabo, Pliny and Ptolemy name, flowing into the Persian Gulf and, for Ptolemy, marking the border between Susiana and Media. On the map its name would then have been treated like a station, distance figure and all, though without the little bend that usually marks a stop. The missing figure on the stretch from Ecbatana fits the confusion, since that city should really be Susa. Others looked for a town at Asadabad or Harunabad in Iran.
