Nagae
Taq? (Barrington · Miller)
Nagae is usually taken to be Tagai, a place the Greek historian Polybius set a day's march from Hekatompylos, and perhaps modern Taq in Iran, although its location is disputed. From Tagai, Antiochus the Third led his army over the Elburz mountains through the Caspian Gates to invade Hyrcania in 209 BC. The geographer Strabo probably means the same place with his royal residence called Tape. Some scholars instead read the name as a copyist's slip for Rhagae. The map's distance from Europos is too high, probably through another copying error.
