Aprodisia
Thracian Chersonese
Aprodisia is Aphrodisias, at the neck of the Thracian Chersonese, today the village of Kadıköy, once Evrese, where the old name lingered. The map shows it cut off from the road: a copyist forgot the red lines here, perhaps because names were written first and joined up later, and the name itself runs where the road should be. It is also drawn too far south. The town was largely unwalled until Justinian fortified it. Only one bishop of its own is known; at the Council of Ephesus in 431 it was looked after by neighbouring Sausadia.
