Novis Aquilianis

Sidi-Ali-Djebini

Listen to the story

Novis Aquilianis has lost its opening letters on the map: the first two are gone, the third, surely a v, is partly legible, and the zigzag of the road line just before the name leaves room for only a few. The Roman register of routes gives the full name, and the Ravenna list has Novis aquis. The site lies at Sidi Ali Djebini. The map counts six Roman miles from the unnamed stop before it and nine on to Picus.

Fully based on scientific information from TP-Online (KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt).
