Noviomagus

Novion-Porcien

Noviomagus lies at Novion-Porcien in the Ardennes in France, the first station on the road from Reims to Cologne, twelve Gallic leagues, about twenty-six kilometres, out of Reims. Traces of a Roman settlement beside the road have been found there, and the milestone column of Tongeren lists it too. Its Celtic name means New Field, which is why other places on the map share it, among them Speyer and Nijmegen. On the map the stretch that follows has no marked start.
