Listen to the story
Nucerio Camellaria is Nocera Umbra, where the Via Flaminia enters the Apennines and a road branched off to Ancona. The Roman writer Pliny names two groups of citizens here, the Favonienses and the Camellani, which explains the map's double name, and the Greek geographer Strabo knew the town for its wooden vessels. Lombard graves found nearby hold warriors, and women buried with short swords at their side.
