Listen to the story
Armascla flumen is a river standing as a stop on a road through Africa Proconsularis, the Roman province around Carthage. The river is the Oued Bou Heurtma in Tunisia, a tributary joining the Bagradas, now the Medjerda, from its left bank. The map gives only the name, with no picture, twelve Roman miles, about eighteen kilometres, from Ad Silma, while no figure survives for the stretch onward. A list of places compiled in Ravenna knows the river too, as Armasdum.
