Lorimna

Bozuk kale

Lorimna is Loryma, a harbour at the tip of the Boz Burun peninsula in Caria, directly opposite Rhodes; Livy puts it a little over twenty miles from the city. It belonged to the Rhodian territory on the mainland, and war fleets put in here again and again, as Thucydides, Diodorus and Livy record. On the headland above the bay stand the ruins of a Rhodian fortress of the 3rd or 2nd century BC, and a rock inscription honours Zeus Atabyrios. Pliny lists a Larymna as well; whether that was a second harbour or the same one is still disputed.
