Road station
Heldo
Lebweh
Heldo is a slip of the pen: the station was really Libo, and the error apparently crept in under the influence of Heliopolis, the name just before it on the road. Libo is Lebweh in Lebanon, beside one of the main springs of the Orontes, a place the Arabs called al-Labwa. It lived on into the Middle Ages: the Franks were defeated there on 4 July 1170, and Saladin passed through in 1188 on his great campaign into northern Syria. A Roman milestone found nearby counts its miles from Heliopolis.
