Road station

Hellana

(nahe) Agliana [Pleiades · 3]

Listen to the story

Hellana, a station on the road from Florence to Pistoia, lives on in the name of Agliana: a document of 848 already calls the place Alina, and the stream Agna beside it bore the same name in the Middle Ages. The station probably stood at the foot of the hills below the abbey of Montale, where the Roman road ran along the edge of the plain.
