Herculis Rani

S. Martino (near Campochiaro)

Listen to the story

Herculis Rani, of Hercules Ranus, marks a sanctuary of Hercules near Campochiaro, at the foot of the Matese mountains, on the road from Bovianum to Saepinum. Although it was a shrine, the map gives it no temple picture, and its lines are incomplete: the stretch to Bovianum is missing although its distance is there, and it is unclear whether the road to Saepinum starts here at all. The list of places compiled in Ravenna keeps only Rani.
