Road station

Hariza

Aruch, Misun

Hariza lay in the valley of the Araxes, on the road that ran upstream from Artaxata. Older research argued that the next station, Raugonia, a crossroads drawn with a picture on the map, sat at Kağızman, which would put Hariza further east, near Parnaut; its site is now sought at Aruch. Attempts to match it with places in other ancient lists by the sound of their names alone, such as the Aruzis of the geographer Ptolemy, were judged unconvincing. Older readings garbled the name as Hariha or Nariza.
