Glaudia

? Tillo oder Kerar Kale ?

Glaudia is a copyist's slip for Claudias, the short form of Claudiopolis, a town known since the Roman writer Pliny. The Roman historian Ammianus Marcellinus names Laudias and Barzala as two garrison forts, and in the Middle Ages the place was called Arelaudia. Its site is still uncertain: Tillo and Kerar Kale have both been suggested, and older research looked further downstream, at the foot of a mountain beside the rapids of the Euphrates.
