Gibrata

Listen to the story

Gibrata is probably the Gorbatha that the geographer Ptolemy lists in Mesopotamia between Sinna and Dabausa; the Ravenna list writes Gubrata and counts it as part of Assyria. Older research looked for it near el Fatha. Coming from Phalcara across the Tigris, the map gives no figure, but on to Peloriarca it counts twenty Roman miles, about thirty kilometres.
