Gallum Gallinatium

Sebbala · Cebala Ben Ammar · Gabrejelli (Barrington) · Proteville (Miller)

Gallum Gallinatium, the farmyard cock, is a homely name for the first station on the road from Carthage to Utica. Its exact site is uncertain; one suggestion places it at Cebala Ben Ammar in Tunisia. Between the station and Utica lay Castra Cornelia, by the sea near the mouth of the Bagradas: the harbour where Scipio pitched his first camp after landing in Africa.
