Thuni
Tunis
Thuni is Tunis, a Libyan town on the Gulf of Carthage, at the mouth of the small river Catada, as Ptolemy notes; Diodorus calls it White Tunis. Again and again it served Carthage's enemies as a base: Agathocles in 310 BC, the consul Regulus in 256 BC during the First Punic War, and Scipio, who moved his headquarters here in 203 BC. Having stood by Carthage, it was destroyed by the Romans in 146 BC and refounded under Caesar or Augustus. Bishops are named from 411. On the map the red line that should lead on to Maxula is missing.
