Thurris

Henchir-el-Aouinia (Barrington) · Hr. el Djemel (Miller)

Listen to the story

Thurris, the tower, was a station in the valley of the Medjerda in Tunisia, at Henchir el-Aouinia or perhaps Henchir el-Djemel; the list of places compiled in Ravenna spells it Tyris. A milestone found nearby counts fourteen miles from Thuburbo Minus. Several roads met here: the map sets it four Roman miles from Chisiduo, six from Vallis and five from Sicilibra, and a further link to Avitta may have dropped out.
