Gadda

el-Hadid (Barrington)

Gadda lay on the Roman road from Philadelphia, now Amman, to Bostra, thirteen Roman miles out of the city and eleven before Hatita. A late Roman list of army posts names it as the base of native mounted archers, and Stephanus of Byzantium calls it a small place in Arabia. It is placed near el-Hadid in Jordan, and should not be confused with a namesake on the southern border of Judaea. On the map, the road line on to Hatita is missing.
