Gabris

Gièvres

Gabris was a place of the Bituriges Cubi, on the road from Tours to Bourges. Most older authors placed it at Chabris; others, and the current identification, prefer Gièvres. Older research also thought of a lost form Carobriva, a bridge on the Cher, because a medieval account of the miracles of Saint Austregisilus mentions a village Carobriae with bridges over that river. On the map, the stretch from Gabris towards Bourges is drawn as two.
