Corte Cavanella

Listen to the story

Fossis, at the ditches, refers to the canals the Roman writer Pliny calls the ditches of Philistus, which joined the mouths of the Po and the Adige through the marshes near the Venetian lagoon. The station lay at Corte Cavanella near Loreo, and the name survives nearby in Fossone and Porto Fossone.
