Coabis
Mekobbe (Miller) · Tell Zamadi · el Qarawa (Barrington)
Coabis is otherwise unknown and is probably a copyist's slip for Coreae, a town on the road from Jericho to Scythopolis. Josephus calls Coreae the northernmost town of Judaea when Pompey marched through it in pursuit of Aristobulus, and Vespasian later took it on his way to Jericho. Nearby stood the fortress of Alexandreion, strengthened by Aristobulus's son Alexander in his fight against Gabinius. The place is today's Qarawa on the Wadi Fara, a stream that flows into the Jordan.
