Clostris
„In der Nähe des Lago di Fogliano und der ‚Archi di S. Donato‘ genannten Ruinen“ [2]
Listen to the story
Clostris is Clostra Romana, which the Roman writer Pliny names on the coast of the Pontine plain, near the lagoon of Fogliano and the ruins called the Archi di San Donato. The Greek geographer Ptolemy also lists it, and the list of places compiled in Ravenna garbles it to Plostris. The coast road here ran past a string of lagoons and river mouths between Antium and Monte Circeo, a stretch that in later centuries small rivers made almost impassable.
